Construction scaffolding silhouetted against a low amber sun
Building contractor · London and the Home Counties

Built once.
Built right.

Extensions, conversions, refurbishments and new builds, priced as a fixed written scope and run to a programme you can hold us to.

Who we are

The builder your architect would pick

BLC Construction is a main contractor for people who want their building work run properly. We price honestly, we build carefully, and we put everything in writing.

Most of our work comes recommended: by past clients, by the architects we build for, and by neighbours who watched how we ran the job next door. That only happens when quotes hold, programmes hold and sites are left tidy. So that is the whole business plan.

How we work

Five stages. No grey areas.

Every project runs the same route, and each stage is signed off before the next begins. You always know where the job stands and what happens next.

Site visit

We come to you, walk the property, and listen. You get straight answers on what is feasible, what the constraints are, and roughly what it costs before anyone draws a line.

Survey and design

A measured survey, then drawings. We work with your architect if you have one, or introduce one we trust if you do not. Planning and building control are handled here.

Fixed written quote

A priced scope of works, item by item, so you can see where every pound goes. If something is excluded, the quote says so in plain terms.

The build

A named site manager, a programme you can hold us to, and a weekly progress note. Sites are kept tidy and neighbours are kept onside.

Handover and aftercare

A full walkthrough, a snag list cleared before final payment, and certificates handed over in one pack. We come back if anything settles or sticks.

Why BLC

Six promises we put in writing

Fixed written quotes

An itemised scope before we start. If we missed it, that is our cost, not yours.

A named site manager

One person owns your job, answers your calls and walks the site with you every week.

Our own trades

Carpenters, bricklayers and electricians we work with week in, week out. Not whoever answered an advert.

A programme you can hold us to

Dates in writing, updated weekly. When something moves, you hear it from us first.

Tidy, considerate sites

Daily clean-downs, protected floors, and neighbours told before noisy work, not after.

Aftercare in the contract

Snags cleared before final payment, and we come back if anything settles or sticks.

What clients say

Taken at their word

“The quote we signed was the amount we paid. Fourteen weeks, and the site was swept every single evening.”

Extension client, Wandsworth

“Our site manager rang every Friday with what happened and what was next. We never once chased them.”

Refurbishment client, Kensington
Common questions

Asked before every job

Do you charge for the first visit and quote?

No. The first site visit and the written quotation are free. If your project needs a measured survey or structural calculations to price accurately, we agree that cost with you first.

What areas do you cover?

We work across London and the Home Counties. For larger projects we will travel further; ask, and we will give you a straight answer either way.

Can you work with our architect?

Yes, and we prefer to be involved before drawings are finalised, because ten minutes of builder input at design stage routinely saves thousands on site. If you have no architect yet, we can introduce practices we trust.

How do you handle changes mid-build?

Every change is priced in writing and agreed before the work happens, with its effect on the programme stated. Nothing appears on an invoice you have not already seen.

Next step

Start with a site visit

Tell us what you are planning and we will walk the site, talk through the practicalities, and give you a written quotation with the scope spelt out. No obligation, no pressure.
